birthday celebrations

                 HAPPY   BIRTHDAY   BEAR
                               3 TODAY!!!!!!!!!!

Birthday celebrations here at bearsfootprints. Bear is 3 years old today, where has the time gone i dont know. Up at 6.30am and bed at 8pm, something tells me he might be abit tired tommorrow. He has had such a fun day, presents to open, shopping in newmarket, grandparents round in the afternoon then birthday tea and cake. Let me show you all a few pics.

Bear was so keen to undo his presents, he didnt really stop to get changed properly...

Of course Cameron was eager to help his brother to fix everything together...
After the excitment of all the presents, me and Bear decided to go into town shopping. We went into the charity shops where Bear picked out a few lovely books and i picked up some lovely curtains which now my daughter has taken a liking to. Then before home we went and got something to eat.

In the afternoon the grand parents came round.... I bet you are thinking my god shes still not got bear dressed, well i did but im in the middle of potty training which i must say Bear took us by surprise on Monday and was asking for the potty so hey what do you know this week so far he has done wonders. Today was the first day he has sat on it without me even prompting him so yippee by jo i think i have cracked it, well nearly. You know its taken numerous times to get him this far too many that i have lost count.

This year Beth challenged me to make Bear a DINOSAUR cake not brilliant i know but hey it was my first attempt, it can only get better...
So as you can see we have all had a fab day celebrating, i hope you have all had a good day too.

Gala Fun..

Hi, yes im back. Its been a while i know but since the day chewy got knocked down my mind hasnt really been in the mood to write anything. In general my mind really hasnt been able to do much apart from making sure the family is running, but hey now im back so let me catch you all up with what i have been up to.

Well this past weekend was Gala day, the sun was shining and everyone had a great day, well i say that but i managed to get hubby down and to be totally honest he really didnt want to be there, it was all abit too much, but the friends group for the village reserve was there having a stall so in a way he wanted to help out even though he was in a wheelchair and really not able to do much.

When we had finished for the day and i when i had got him back home within minutes of getting him back on his bed, he had fallen asleep. Bless him it really did knock him out. I have taken some photos so you can see some of the fun.

This is my daughters St Trillians walking float Beth 3rd in from the left..

This one is the swimming pool association float..

This one is the preschool float all about village life and what they wanted to be when the grow up. Bear didnt go on this one this year as he hasnt been at preschool for long and i didnt realyy know how he would be in me leaving him, he's been a little upset the last few times i have left him.

W.I float 'A Day At The Races'

One float that i didnt catch on the day but i helped abit with was the cubs float which was in the theme of 60 years of Dennis the Menace.

Also while trying to finish the cub float me, bear, mrs sweetpea and little sweetpea went strawberry picking. Quite handy having the float made at a strawberry farm!!

As you can tell you strawberries were very tasty....

Anyway i hope you have enjoyed catching up x x

As you can see  Bear had a good day.....

sad day....

Today is a sad day, at 6.45am Bear came in and woke me so he sat there with me until the alarm crowed at 7.10am. 5 minutes later i rose up, got out of bed and went to undo the curtains. Firstly i looked over and saw chewy playing with what i thought was a mouse or something, but this then turned into horror as i quickly realised that he had been hit by a car. My heart just went, the kids were all my room, what do i do. So quickly i got some clothes on and then checked on chewy out of the window and noticed that a neighbour from up the road had stopped. Quickly i got all the kids downstairs and just told them that i would be back in a minute and could they please keep an eye on Bear while i did so. By the time i got a blanket out of the cupboard and went outside, my neighbour had picked Chewy up and moved him to the side of the road, at this point i knew that he was no longer with us. I crossed the road and gently picked him up and took him home.
He had a massive head injury and there was no way he would of made it. All i kept thinking was you poor thing but kept reminding myself at least he didnt suffer too much.
As you can imagine the kids were distraught. Chewy was Beths cat and she just broke down, Cameron well he is a boy so he tried to keep things together but quietly he was very upset, Bear well he is too young to realise what has just happened.
Poor Beth she broke right down, very angry too for the speeding cars that goes past our house just dont slow down, but she still went too school walking past the place where Chewy had been knocked down was one of her hardest moments. Cameron well i drove him to school as he really didnt want to walk.
After Beth left but before Cameron went to school i had to put Chewy into his resting place as i didnt really want Bear seeing what i was going to do at least Cameron could keep an eye on him till i got back in. So now Chewy is resting in the rose bed next to his brother Charlie who we also lost last year due to the same cicumstances.

Chewy r.i.p you will be missed my little whirlwind x x

big week for hubby

Well this is a big week for hubby and me as hubby is going into hospital on Thursday to have the long awaited pain blocks put into his back and leg.
7 months its already been since he last walked properly on them. Its been a very hard time for him. He is very nervous bless him, which i cant blame him as i didnt even want an eperdural when i had my three kids and luckerly i didnt need them as gas and air was enough. Its a big thing for him, will he be able to feel much after or are we going to have to go again for another set of needles. I do hope that it works 1st time because then he can crack on with the phsyio as even this has been put on hold as they feel they cant do anything.

Anyway also another highligted moment so far this week is that Saturday morning i had the element in the oven go, so quickly over to the electrical shop to get another one, just 5 mins before the shop was due to close, great i thought. Well once home i inserted the new element only to find that it didnt fit properly and that i would now have to wait till monday till be able to get anything done, great i thought a whole weekend with no oven.
Well Monday came along and i phoned them up at 8am to be told that they will now have to order a new element and it will be delivered on Tuesday.
HEY guess what i picked up the new element this afternoon, fitted it and now i have a fully funtional oven once again. You know they do say its the little things that keep you happy.

Anyway i guess i had better go now as i have to do the motherly thing of picking my tribe up from various clubs, so enjoy your night whatever you might be doing xx

country walks

What a wonderful time i had tonight, its not as if i had done much but take a lovely long walk down the nature reserve with my 2 oldest children. Bear was already in bed and it has been such a lovely day with all the sunshine that i thought why should it stop.
You know some days im just so speechless about how stunningly beautiful this world can be.

 Let me show you

Fantastic if i do say so myself.
But you know the one thing that im really pleased about, is seeing this.....

Do you know what it is, i must admit i have heard of them but until now i have never seen one, so off i went to the butterfly conservation web site and put up my sighting on their map.

For all of you who dont know what it is, it is a

HUMMINGBIRD HAWK MOTH

Have any of you seen anything interesting lately?
Anyway i hope you have enjoyed looking at my nature post tonight and i hope i have inspired you all to go on a litle nature trail of your own x x

can you guess what it is yet?

Well i hope you are all having a good week so far and i hope its not been too windy. Rain on the other hand has been abit lack, we havent really had any here and what we have had hasnt really done anything so im afraid i have had to put the sprinkler on. I wouldnt normally but over the last couple of days i have put in some more plants, like lavenders and nicitiania ( not sure if i have spelt that right but hey hoy) so i really dont them dissappearing to a crisp before i get chance to see them. You know its been ages since we have had proper rain im mean i cant even remember when we even had some last, a good couple of months if not more, the ground is just so dry, i wonder what the farmers are going to do.

Anyway last night i was beavering around on my sewing machine and i would like to show you a peak.....

Alright alright i wont keep you as i know your all wondering what i have been up to...

Tad taaaaa!!

Please do meet
BUNNY!

What do you all think, i have fallen in love with her, she is my 1st proper make. Even Beth has aked if i can make one for her.. Only thing now though is to put a price on her, please do let me know what you would pay, as like i have mentioned in past blogs, i am making things to sell to put on a stall in a couple of months and i dont want to price things too high, so your comments are much needed. Thankyou.
This little bunny has come from a french embrodery magazine which my mother in law gave me. So i sourced the fabrics etc and there she is. So pretty and sweet i thought.
I really have enjoyed making her.

Anyway what else has been happening well i have repotted all my pepper plants into bigger pots and the tomatoes and mini cucumbers are now either repotted or moved into a big bucket in the greenhouse, the only thing is though is that my cucumbers dont look very healthy. I mean they looked ok to begin with but recently the leaves have started to go yellow. Ive been watering them, so if you know what the problem could be then please do let me know. I cant wait to see them all ripen and to see their lovely fruits yum yum. Just in case though the cucumbers dont make it i have just brought 3 more plants of the min variety so fingers crossed, you never know they might all make it and i could have millions of them by the end of the summer.
Also this week i have asked a couple of businesses if they could donate anything to do with nature, you know like bees, flowery items like soaps made with bees wax, lavender products, because i want to raise some important funds for our local nature reserve...

The reserve has been supported by the local council, but the council has been hit hard by the goverment cuts, so now the Friends group which helps look after the reserve our left on their own, so hence the need for some fundraising.
You know its a shame that the goverments cuts are taking away all of the eco funds, i mean some one has to look after these sites or they will just vanish and disappear under all the brambles, and we all enjoy a relaxing walk in the countryside dont we. So anyway thats why i have decided to hold a raffle. I know this is abit cheeky but if any of you work for any business that supplies any natural stuff or anything related to nature that might be able to help then please do let me know.
Right now im off to catch up on a few of you and see what you have all been up to. x take care x
