can you guess what it is yet?

Well i hope you are all having a good week so far and i hope its not been too windy. Rain on the other hand has been abit lack, we havent really had any here and what we have had hasnt really done anything so im afraid i have had to put the sprinkler on. I wouldnt normally but over the last couple of days i have put in some more plants, like lavenders and nicitiania ( not sure if i have spelt that right but hey hoy) so i really dont them dissappearing to a crisp before i get chance to see them. You know its been ages since we have had proper rain im mean i cant even remember when we even had some last, a good couple of months if not more, the ground is just so dry, i wonder what the farmers are going to do.

Anyway last night i was beavering around on my sewing machine and i would like to show you a peak.....

Alright alright i wont keep you as i know your all wondering what i have been up to...

Tad taaaaa!!

Please do meet
BUNNY!

What do you all think, i have fallen in love with her, she is my 1st proper make. Even Beth has aked if i can make one for her.. Only thing now though is to put a price on her, please do let me know what you would pay, as like i have mentioned in past blogs, i am making things to sell to put on a stall in a couple of months and i dont want to price things too high, so your comments are much needed. Thankyou.
This little bunny has come from a french embrodery magazine which my mother in law gave me. So i sourced the fabrics etc and there she is. So pretty and sweet i thought.
I really have enjoyed making her.

Anyway what else has been happening well i have repotted all my pepper plants into bigger pots and the tomatoes and mini cucumbers are now either repotted or moved into a big bucket in the greenhouse, the only thing is though is that my cucumbers dont look very healthy. I mean they looked ok to begin with but recently the leaves have started to go yellow. Ive been watering them, so if you know what the problem could be then please do let me know. I cant wait to see them all ripen and to see their lovely fruits yum yum. Just in case though the cucumbers dont make it i have just brought 3 more plants of the min variety so fingers crossed, you never know they might all make it and i could have millions of them by the end of the summer.
Also this week i have asked a couple of businesses if they could donate anything to do with nature, you know like bees, flowery items like soaps made with bees wax, lavender products, because i want to raise some important funds for our local nature reserve...

The reserve has been supported by the local council, but the council has been hit hard by the goverment cuts, so now the Friends group which helps look after the reserve our left on their own, so hence the need for some fundraising.
You know its a shame that the goverments cuts are taking away all of the eco funds, i mean some one has to look after these sites or they will just vanish and disappear under all the brambles, and we all enjoy a relaxing walk in the countryside dont we. So anyway thats why i have decided to hold a raffle. I know this is abit cheeky but if any of you work for any business that supplies any natural stuff or anything related to nature that might be able to help then please do let me know.
Right now im off to catch up on a few of you and see what you have all been up to. x take care x

what a last couple of days

well like the title says i have had a busy few days.
Yesterday well where did that go, all day no lie i was trying to sort out the printer, i was on the phone to kodak trying to get it sorted, then by email, then i tried abit more then finally at 8pm i done it, the computer finally realised what the printer was, and it worked yeh, and you know what it was........ in the end it was just the case i turn the broadband off then on and it worked, if i had realised at the begginning of the day then i could of done everything that i wanted to do.
Well today was definatley better.
Kids off to school, then me and bear went to little lambs ( toddler group) had a good chat with a few friends, then home had dinner, bear went for a kip, then when the kids got home off we all went and done the food shop ( yes i know but it had to be done at some point), then fish and chips on the way home. Not too bad hey, but still lots more things to do.
For example i still need to send off my driving license to the dvla as the photo has expired, but they want me to give them £20.00 for the pleasure, so its mine and hubbys so £40.00 then i had to pay another £5.00 for the photos so altogether that £45.00, how can that be right. Isnt the tax, insurance and the petrol enough to pay for. Im sure im not the only one to say this.
Anyway enough moaning, what are the rest of you up to........

Have a good weekend, lets hope the sun shines for us all.....

scotch eggs tutorial

hello, i hope you are all having a good weekend.

This post is for all of you who wonder on ' how you make scotch eggs '.
You know who you are......

things you will need are
  • 4 Eggs
  • Sausage meat ( i get mine from Tesco's which normally comes in a sealed packet)
  • flour
  • breadcrumbs
and a baking tray to put them on ( line with foil or brown paper)

Firstly pre heat your oven on about 180 c, mines fan assisted so if yours isnt then prehaps you might need to keep the eggs in for a little longer.

Then you need to boil 3 eggs for about 4 minutes so they are hard boiled.
Once they are done i then take off the heat and empty the hot water and then replace the saucepan with cold water and then take the shells off. Once all the shells are off i then place in a bowl  until i need them.

yes i know i have four eggs here, sometimes you may be able to get away with doing 4. All depends how much meat you want on your eggs...

Before i get started i get out 3 bowls one to put some flour in, one for the 4th egg which is beaten and then one for those homemade breadcrumbs. I normally have a stock in the freezer as its so handy just to get out when you need them.
Also you need to get your baking try ready.

Next i open the pack of sausage meat and i cut it into 3/3 this should be enough to cover  the 3 eggs which you have boiled.
Get a sprinkle of flour and then try and flatten the meat so you can cover the egg in.
I tend to do this in my hand, so once flattened i put the egg in the meat and then gently cover the eggs making sure that all the egg is covered. Beware you might get abit sticky but you can always use a dash of flour.

One by one i pick up a egg and roll it around in the flour. Then straight into the egg, at this stage though the eggs will become quite slipppery so be careful that you dont put your fingers through the meat. Once covered in egg go straight to the breadcrumbs and carefully cover, by this stage it can become abit messy ( fingers that is, but i think thats part of making your own)
Once you have finished the last step place carefully onto a baking tray. Then do the other 2 eggs.

When all of them have been completed then place into the oven for about 25 mins, till they are cooked throughly. Dont worry if they have split open that usually happens.

Now the best bit enjoy while they are hot with abit of salad ( of with anything else you desire) and savour the moment, you will never buy a shop brought one again, trust me.

I do hope your scotch eggs turn out as yummy as mine, and ENJOY!!!!!!!

bits and bobs

This post is going to be a bits and bobs post, trying to catch up with the goings on in my life.
Firstly i must say how pride iam of Bear, as it was his first day at preschool. He seemed to take it all in his stride no tears, no tantrums just such a sweet little boy. All the teachers have been waiting for him to start as then they can call him Bear as they think its just an adorable name. He came home after doing a lovely painting and he told us that he had been singing and dancing and of course playing with cars.

`Bear with one of the preschool leaders

Now i have been trying to think of things to make so i can sell them on a stall in August, as normally there is a flower festival at the church, but due to this not happening now the local church ladies have decided that people can hold stalls so they can sell their own items, abit of a crafty event.
Anyway one thing that i have made today is this.......

This is my little crochet cat. I must admit i have only made this with the help from a tutorial from marmaladerose, do go and visit here she makes the most wonderful things.
He does seem to be a rather posh looking cat, one tat should be wearing a top hat dont you think.

Also i have been trying to do oplique is it? im not sure i have done it right, what do you think...

In the garden we had a little visitor....

Mr Sparrow please meet everyone in blogging land..

Now i think i will leave you all with some pics of the garden... enjoy......

I hope you have enjoyed reading this..
Im now off to catch up all the rest of you.

easter, no you dont say...

Well i never, after coming home from work this afternoon and organising a little egg hunt you would never believe it was easter, just take a look...

so many chocolates what do we do...
You do have to take into count though that there are 3 kids in this house, and grannies friends also buy goodies for the children, as well as other family members so hence lots and lots of chocolate. We could have our own chocolate factory. At least Bear had fun trying to find some of them.

Anyway talking about eggs, i was really taken back with this one...

I mean look at the size of it, its enormous, it looks more like a goose egg, i mean i havent had one this size since last year when i first had my chickens laying. So something special had to be done, so i decided to make some lovely homemade scotch eggs.

They went down lovely with a little bit of salad, and as you might be able to tell that enormous egg was a double yolker,  very yummy definatley beets the shop brought ones any day.

Well what else have i been up to lately, well i made this little bird out of the wooly stripy jumper i blogged about recently....

Thankyou beth for holding it...
and also this....

a union jack cushion believe it or not it is made from 2 t - towels that i purchased from one of the big supermarkets. I think its fab, and i even filled it myself using polyester filling, rather than the pads you can buy, as this has made it  nice and firm. You know this sewing is great i keep thinking what else i can make now. More of the birds and definatley another cushion, this time one with a red backing as this one has a blue backing.
I even shared half of my jumper with scented sweetpeas so im looking forward into seeing what she will make with it. As soon as she saw the jumper, you could tell that she was eager to get her hands on it, which is fine as i am more than happy sharing my finds, and we tend to bounce ideas off each other too. In return though for half the jumper she gave me a red t - towel for the backing of my next cushion, see we all win....

Well next week returns normallity with the kids returing to school, and the house will return to a calmer state, as i must say it has been rather noisy this ast couple of weeks, dont get me wrong i love having the kids at home, but its also nice to have some quiet days x x x x x

Anyway enjoy your bank holiday monday and i will see you all soon.
ps dont eat all those easter eggs once the kids have gone to bed. he he x
