mothers day and car booty

Happy Mothers Day to all you mums out there, i hope you have had a wonderful day doing what ever you want and being spoilt rotten.

The kids have been wonderful today. I have had plenty of hugs and kisses, drinks being brought to me, its been a dream.
This morning when i woke up i had the kids come into my bedroom and say to me its car boot day, can we go. As you may already of guessed they were quite eager to go, i guess its a novelty, as normally i work on sundays, so its been a real treat not to have to get up so early, mind you the carboot starts at 7am, but no i wasnt out of the house at that time more 8am. Even though 8am is still very early for a sunday, but once there the place was heaving, some people had already been round and had started to leave. I mean this carboot its only the next village down from where iam but its a big one and the first of the year so lots and lots of people about.
Anyway even though there were lots of people about i still managed to pick up a few things. I will show you some pics, but some of them are on my washing line so hopefully you will be able to see them ok.

this top was from next 100% wool and 50p, i thought i could cut it up and use it some how, cushion? what do you think.

These trousers came from m&s and were £1.20 and a khaki colour, like wise they are 80 odd % wool, already they look felty, so i shall cut these up too and hopefully make something out of them.

Now this jumper fits, lovely colour, could easier felt if i wanted, but is quite itchy as like the other two items is made with wool.
Only thing is the label is White Stuff, and as a friend has said they can be really exspensive, so originally this jumper could of cost £50.00 rounded off nut only cost me a whoppping 50p.
So what would you do wear it, but be itchy OR cut it up to make things with???
questions, questions.
Also on my carbooty travels i got these....

This lovely fabric, the pattern and colours are so lovely.

Now these next two piece are from ikea, i just love the little teddies.

I have now just got to think of all the lovely things i could make.
Oh i do love carboots all of this for under a fiver, where else can you go and get such bargains, i just wish in a way i didnt have to work on the sundays, nevermind i do though have another sunday off in about 4 weeks time so cant wait hopefully this same carboot will be on.
Other things that i have been up to this week are, re potting some lavender and rosemary that i had from last year.

And in the garden, with this week still being warm, everything has sprouted more,

These are lilies called netties pride, and they are a lovely purple in colour.

My Acers, i have 3 in the garden, have all started to shoot out new fresh leaves.

And these are my Prunus Kanzan, like wise i have 3 in the garden which are scattered in which will be in the long grasses and some wildflowers..are own little haven.

These blossoms will be pink in colour and i cant wait, as it will be the first year we would of seen it...

and these are our new shoots on our apple trees, bramley and granny smith.
Also in our garden we have areas where we have old tree stumps and i found these little fellows. 5 in total enjoying the sun.

Returning back to today, the last day or so there have a few of you that have made some chocolate cakes all for different occasions, so in all you have tempted me to make some of these....

If you havent realised by the photos, i made with help from a couple of hands some cookie and cream brownies and yes they are very scrummy.
The recipe came from lorraine Pascale, she has had a series on the tele called Baking Made Easy. These lovely brownies have oreo's in them so as well as the squigy you get a little crunch. This are not going to last that long, i can tell you that.

One last thing before i go, while in the garden the last few days, i have noticed a little something happening, in this bird box i have noticed a little activity with a pair of blue tits, how wonderful to have hopefully a pair of breeding birds in the garden.... spring is finally here..

I hope i havent bored you too much with all my goings on, and i hope you have all had a good weekend too.....
Thankyou for coming by x

the sun has got his hat on!

Well what can i say, what a week of such wonderful weather. How could we all just sit inside and ignore it, i certainly didnt.
The weeds got pulled,

the plots have nearly all been dug over, and planting has been started.

here i have sowed my peppers, tomatoes (money maker), and some miniature cucumbers.
Apparently these cucumbers and have about 20 mini friuts a week. I had better get ready for that then, i think more salads will be on the menu.

I have 2 of these tubs, and these are what im going to put the cucumbers in. 2 to a pot. Last year i put them in some grow bags but to be honest when watering the water just seem to run off so hence the tubs. Last year the tubs were used for the tomatoes  and that went ok, so we will see how the cues go.

The next task is to move all my strawberry plants to to small raised bed which i have now finally dug over.
I cant quite believe how quick the runners spread.

We have been having lots of these popping up in the lawn too.

While being out this week its been great to see the blue sky and candy floss trees all in blossom. Hares, pheasants, pigs, kestrals, deers have all been seen. The birds are all singing loudly, its just a great time of year, just so sweet.

ohh a first for me and hubby is that we had our first skype call/video.
Since hubbys auntie and uncle returned back to america we have stayed in better touch, and video calls are just great but so weird if you know what i mean.
Also this weekend i have the sunday off work, thankyou i said as dont forget the clocks go forward a hour, so for me i dont have to get up at  6am which if you are still in old time 5am Arghh no not by choice, so i had just a few hours left of my holiday intitlement so i think they have gone to a good cause. Lay in here i come, and i might even go to a carboot tommorrow too..
Anyway no matter what all you are getting up to this weekend have fun and enjoy...

Oh nearly forgot, as some of are maybe aware i have put a video bar on the side. I thought it may be fun if i swap it every other week and have a different piece of music on it, but to have suggestions  from ALL OF YOU. what would you like to see on there. Let me know and i will try and put it on. Prehaps its a local band, whatever you like tell me x x x
I look forward in seeing what you come up with x x

Take care everyone x x

Ist makes

Hello everyone i hope you have all had a good week so far, nearly the weekend.

It seems like ages since i last did a post, bust going here and there.

Well this week i have been a busy little bee, ive been doing some more granny squares for my blanket. i find it really relaxing just sitting there in my spare time crocheting away.
I have made some bigger granny squares, then i have some that are a  little smaller because i had ran out of the yarn i was using. So anyway last night i had a little lightbulb pop up in my head and this is what it was..............

What do you think, this is my crocheted lavender cushion it is about 10cms x10cms and im so pleased with it and i really enjoyed making it. Prehaps if i made some more i could sell them.
One question though how much do you think i should sell them for if i did?..

And today i made this

My floor cushion.....
I didnt think that i would be able to finish it as my sewing machine just decided to stop on me. After having a good fiddle with it i thought that prehaps it might be a fuse, so i popped down to Pattersons, which is a small shop in the village that sells almost everything. Mind you this little shop is like a little treasure trove because some of the stuff in it is years old, but you know i guess thats what makes it kind of special.
When i got back home YIPEE! it worked but then there was no light. Not too  worry as i had a spare bulb in a drawer, so  i then changed that and hey presto the finished cushion.
And like my other little make im so pleased with myself.
I have to admit though i have to say thankyou to my sister, as she sent me a package in the post with the material and instructions on how to do it. It was a envelope design so no buttons or zips (great)  and she showed me exactly how to do it, and you know shes right it was such a simple thing to make that i make well just make some more.
Its funny isnt it, i never really thought that a year ago i would be doing all the crafts but im loving it.
It just prove how addictive this bloggy world is, fab isnt it...
Oh my trees that i ordered have turned up today too.

One Prunus Kanzan
One Bramley Apple
and
One Granny Smith

Now i just have to get them into the ground, which would normally be my hubbys job, so i guess this maybe another blog at a later date as it good take a while.
I cant wait though to have my first friuts yum yum.... not sure what the neighbours will think though but they have nothing to worry about as we will keep them well maintained.
This year is definatley going to be a year of growing your own.

Anyway i think i have rambled on for longer enough now, so hope you have enjoyed reading my blog now im off to read yours x x x

busy busy busy

well again its been a busy week.
Went back to the hospital on Wednesday, part good news and part bad news, the good news is that hubbys leg is trying to mend now even though it does have abit of a bow to it, but the bad news is that he has got Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome, ouch. The consultant said that it is the worst that he has ever seen, so thats good news then NOT.. poor hubby is in so much pain he now has to take his painrelief  back to where he started when he came out of the hospital, he really did want to come off them and he was so close to doing that it feels like we are just going round in circles. The thing with the pain relief tablets is that they are opiate ( not sure if i have spelt that right, so so if i havent) based so are very addictive. Cant win can we. So now we just have to be patient, i have to keep touching his leg and his foot to try and get his sensors in his brain to tell him that his leg shouldnt be hurting, all very confusing i know.
Anyway we now have to wait another 6 weeks before we see the consultant again, before we know it summers going to be here..
On a good note though he did manage to sit outside for half an hour today in the sun before having to go back indoors to put his leg back up.
While bear was sleeping and hubby was sitting in his chair, i got on with pruning my rosemary bush which at first glance look dead, but on second inspection i think it just needed a good cut back as in the middle there was still some life. One of our other plants also need a trim and re connecting to its trelis. Then it was the task, which i must say i have been meaning to do for a while now was to clean out my green house ready for the sowing season. I emptied all the pots brushed everything down, then washed all the glass with soapy water then gave it all a rinse with clean water. Great i was so pleased that i had finally done it. Yesterday i cut the lawn, but i have to admit i was knackered, our lawn has a few bumps and moss so this adds to it all. One thing i must say is that we now have new neighbours..

please may i introduce piggy, all together there are 4 piggys that have moved in, i think its fab and bear seems to enjoy their company every morning when he wakes up he has to look out the window to see them...

While im on here i have to say a big thankyou to two lovely ladies, as this past week i have won two giveaways.
One was fron the lovely dee at retro delights...

she used some lovely paper..

They are just so lovely, 2 little light pulls and i know just where they are going to go, one in the bathroom and one in my bedroom.

The second one was these from lisannee...

these are some fab quaters, now what do you all think i should make with these.......
i still cant queit believe that i have won these as i never win anything so im going to enjoy using these.
Also i found this this week it was a duvet cover if you like it let me know.

maybe a giveaway item in the future who knows... let me know what you would do with it....

Anyway time has flown again so im going to leave you all, enjoy your weekend and i will be back soon x x

its the weekend...

Hi everyone, hope you all have had a good week. I cant believe that the weekend is here again already, where does the time go.
I must say thankyou for all your sweet comments about my crochet cushion, im glad you all like it.

I suppose i have'nt done too much this week, which is ok i guess as we all need to slow down from time to time.
Thursday hubby had phsyio, which to be honest really didnt seem to be worth the pain and the car journey, but enough said about that.
Wednesday was good as i had abit of a sort out, i went through the whole of my wardrobe and got rid of all the clothes that i no longer wear, and boy i felt so much better after that. I had been putting off this job for ages.
I know there are so many more jobs that need to be done its a shame i dont have octopuss arms.

Bear has had fun as you can see. He found it really queit funny posing for the camera with his tops around his head, as if it was a hat....

Bear and Cameron also had fun by trying to hide from me, but i think they were forgetting something dont you?

and they also failed to see me coming....

This afternoon they have been making dens, i dread to think what mess the play room is in..
My kids are not the only ones that have been getting into hidden places, Chester has been too. I have decided that iam going to recycle my own newspaper now by shredding it and giving it to my chickens instead of using too much straw. They seem to love having shredded newspaper in there and it keeps them just as warm as the straw so everyone is a winner.
I store the shredded paper in a brown recycling bag that we put all our green waste in, and one day i saw this...

Chester had found his new snug, all cosied up at the bottom of the bag.
Cats do like to hide away in funny places, dont they.
Just one thing before i go, why not pop over and see suz at  suz place she makes some lovely things from crochet and i know she would love to see you.
This is to sweetpea, suz is the lovely lady who helped me make the lovely flower i showed you..
Anyway have a good weekend everyone and i will catch up with you all soon..

my little something...

you know at the end of my last post i said that i had been working on a little something, well i have  now finished it, and if i say so myself i  very pleased with it.
These blue/grey granny squares were blogged about previously and i did have plans to make them into a blanket, but i decided to change my plans and i decided to do this instead...

this is the front

and this is the back..forgive the colour the picture didnt want to come out as good as the top one.
For my first attempt at crochet iam really pleased with the outcome.
And now i have my mind set to making a blanket, i just have to sort out the pattern of how the squares will go.
Anyway yesterday i had a wonderful day, i went into Ely one to do the food shop, but also to go in hunt for some cushion inners because of the above task.
While i was out though i had a good rumage in the charity shops and found these.

lots and lots of wool going really cheap from 50p to 1.99.  I thought wow and even if i dont use them all i wouldnt of spent much money on them if they didnt get used. But being in the bags you prehaps dont see them properly so....

the blue above is very much the same colour that i made the back of my cushion with..
just think what i could make now! a few more cushions maybe..

Also while out and about i picked these up

I found 2 more cushions, one from a charity shop and one from the haberdashery, some fabric, some t towels in the coulurs of liquorice alsorts well thats what i think, maybe i could make something with them any ideas? and lastly keep calm and carry on postcard for my hubby so he knows he can be strong and keep moving forward in the toughest days.

When cameron came in from school he really fancied a hot chocolate dont blame him as it was abit chilly yesterday and as you can see he had much fun putting lots of marshmallows on the top..

Anyway today has been abit more sunny so while bear was kipping i popped out and cut back our roses, so now they are all ready to flower, i cant wait...

There are so many jobs to do, in the garden and in the house i really must write a list and put them into some sort of order.

I hope you have all had a good day x
